This is why we have included our guidelines for a Bridal Planning Guide to help you keep a timely idea of things you may need to do before the big day. Each wedding is different as the bride and groom, so this outline is a basic proposal of some items you may or may not have thought about.
six months prior
- Discuss wedding budget with parents, plan color scheme and style
- Discuss plans with clergy member or judge
- Reserve wedding and reception locations
- Order dress and accessories
- Initial choice of attendees and ushers
- Begin making guest lists
- Select photographer
- Select and book your Disk Jockey Service
three months prior
- Complete guest list
- Order invitations/announcements
- Order wedding rings
- Shop for Bride's trousseau
- Set date to order attendant's dress
- Select florist
- Meet with caterer, florist, photographer and DJ to discuss details
- Order wedding attire for self, best man and ushers
six weeks prior
- Mail invitations
- Plan rehearsal dinner
- Buy each other's gifts and gifts for bridal party
- Final dress and headpiece fitting for bride
- Pick up wedding rings, check engraving
- Send shower gift thank-you notes
- Send announcements to newspapers
- Make sure documents (legal, medical, religious) are in order
two weeks prior
- Get wedding license
- Meet or call Disk Jockey to review reception procedure, special requests and music for bridal dance, father/daughter dance, special dances, etc.
